The establishment of the National Engineering Research Center for Silicon-based Materials Preparation Technology was approved by the FGBGJ [2008] No. 2645 Document on November 28, 2008. The Center was accepted on August 10, 2012 and was included in the new sequence in July 2021.
With silicon-based materials required for the development of integrated circuits, new energy, high-end ceramics, and optical communication industry as the main research direction, the Engineering Research Center is committed to solving the major bottleneck technical problems restricting the research and development of silicon-based materials in China. Using theoretical research, simulation calculation, experimental demonstration, industrialization verification, and other methods, the center carries out research on core process technologies and key equipment focusing on the preparation of polysilicon derivative electronic chemicals, high-efficiency vapor deposition of polysilicon, deep processing of polysilicon, preparation of silicon-based electronic functional materials, preparation of silicon-based new energy materials, post-processing of ultra-high purity products, testing and analysis of high-purity products, etc. It effectively provides a solid technical guarantee for realizing independent and controllable key core technologies of silicon-based materials, upgrading the modernization level of industrial chain and supply chain, and promoting high-quality development.
Guided by the strategic thought of "building a national team for innovation and development of silicon-based materials", the Engineering Research Center actively responds to the national call to establish an advanced silicon-based material cluster technology research and application innovation team, and actively participates in the development of the national integrated circuit and new energy industry. At present, the Center has 252 employees, covering materials, chemical engineering, machinery, equipment, quality control, analysis and testing, instrument automation, mathematical modeling and other majors, including 3 recipients of national special allowances and 52 personnel with a doctor's degree or above. It has formed a silicon-based material cluster preparation technology with independent intellectual property rights, and has won more than 40 awards such as the Second Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, the Gold Award of National Invention Patent Award, and the First Prize of Henan Science and Technology Progress Award, making outstanding contributions to promoting the independent development of China's silicon-based material industry. It has trained a number of high-level talents such as "Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions of National Millions of Talents", "Non-ferrous Metal Industry Design Master", "Chinese Outstanding Young Engineer", "Henan Province Scholar", "Academic and Technical Leader of Henan Province", and "Outstanding Talents in Scientific and Technological Innovation of Henan Province", providing the driving force for continuous innovation.
